What does it take to fly jets?
We think the most important quality is 'Attitude'. Of course you must be a dedicated, competent pilot as well, but attitude makes the difference. Business jets are powerful, expensive machines that need to be flown precisely, by the numbers. This requires an attitude of professionalism and setting a higher personal standard. You are responsible for lives other than your own, and safety can not be compromised.
Who is required to have a valid type rating?
Any aircraft that is jet-powered or weighs more than 12,500 lbs gross weight, requires that the pilot-in-command have a valid type rating. The co-pilot is not required by the FAA to be type rated but may be required by your insurance company.
Why do multiple aircraft models have the same type rating?
If additional models are certified based on the original FAA type certificate, then they all have the same type rating. To qualify for the same type rating, the aircraft must have a majority of systems common to all models. If there are too many differences, then the FAA determines that a new type rating must be obtained. This also means that a type-rated pilot may serve as pilot-in-command of any model covered by that type rating.
Why is the Ce500 type rating so popular?
Because more Ce500 aircraft have been made than any other business jet model and thus is the most common type rating obtained. It is typically the first type rating that a business jet pilot will get.
How long is a type rating valid?
One year, however if the pilot has more than 1 type rating, then he can alternate them, but not longer than 2 years.
Will completing this course qualify me to take a check ride?
No, this is a ground school only.
Why should I take a ground school only course?
This has multiple uses. For business jet pilots, this serves as a good refresher toward future training requirements or following training to increase retention. This also provides an economical way to learn about other jets with different type ratings. For other pilots, this gives an idea of how these aircraft work, or as a prelude to seeking a type rating. For non-pilots who have an interest in how planes work, this provides useful knowledge of their systems.
Does this course count toward ground school at other flight schools?
This is up to the flight school, however no other schools currently accept it.
Do I need to complete ground school before I begin flight training?
The best way is to complete this online school to pre-learn as much information as possible, then you can take the official ground school with your flight training.

Certainly, having been through ground school before enables you to understand and retain the subsequent ground school information more easily. In addition, if this follows the flight training course, it will reinforce what you have learned and allows more complete knowledge retention.
Will this help me find a job?
When you apply for a job as a co-pilot in a business jet, any employer will be impressed with a pilot with extensive knowledge of the aircraft. If applying for an airline job, many of the airline systems have a similar basic design as their corporate cousins.
How does the course work?
First select a course from the course description page, you will be redirected to a page to give your credit card information. We take all majors credit cards. The course viewing shows slides on the right side of the screen, and chapter titles on the left. Clicking on a chapter title allows you to go back to the beginning of the chapter, however you are not allowed to skip forward to a portion that you have not viewed yet. You may start and stop the presentation at will. You will want to have your speakers turned on to hear the course being presented as audio is an important part of the course. Courses are divided into sections, which comprise multiple chapters. When a section is completed, a test may be offered. When all sections are completed, then the course is considered completed. In addition, on the upper left corner of each slide, all of the models that are applicable to the information on that slide are listed.
Do I get a certificate when I complete the course?
Yes, provided that you pass the tests.
How long after registration can I view the course?
Once registration is paid, you have 1 month to complete the course.
Can I stop & start a course?
Yes, you may stop at anytime, when you log back in, you will restart at the point at which you ended.
